Really enjoying continuing to play Ys, but I still believe Ys IV the Dawn of Ys to be the superior Ys IV. That is correct! ; )

Bringing this straight from my GameFAQs topic, because, why not: " Hi all. I believe most Ys V players noticed that, across all 5 weapons that exist in the game, there is a total of 3 different attack patterns. Also more obviously some weapons are stronger than others stats-wise, increasing both physical attack and, to a lesser degree, physical defense, assuming the cap of 255 for both of these haven't yet been reached. Now, most players will know the Isios Blade is the strongest weapon in the game. However, it is also not impossible to have maxed out attack and defense with the likes of Shamshir and Friesa, which have different attack patterns. The truth is, in Ys V, each attack pattern offers different hitboxes. For example, with the Talwar and Isios Blade, Adol can't hit from his sides so well, whereas with the Long Sword and Shamshir he can hit from the side where his sword is rather well, while with Friesa, he can hit well from both the weapon side and the shield side. Friesa, however, is not too great against enemies who are up close too much, which is not as much an issue for the other swords. So here goes my vote: in general, I find the Shamshir to be a much better weapon to fight with than the Isios Blade, because of that alone. The stat differences are a secondary concern. Being able to hit is much more important, especially because hitting with swords is all we can do in all boss battles (except the 2nd one, against the Desert Wolf, in the beginning). The penultimate boss battle, against Jabir Clone, is particularly irritating to deal with using the Isios Blade, whereas the Shamshir and Friesa make the job much easier. That being said, it would be interesting if we had the actual frame data extracted from the game, and do a full technical comparison. I wonder if the pierce attacks actually do have some improved hitboxes for some specific cases when compared to the vertical slice attacks? Certainly nothing that I was able to tell. "

Oh man, Brandish 3. I believe Seldane and others would love seeing this kind of activity taking place. Pretty cool choice! I personally cannot help much, other than perhaps suggest you check also Brandish 2: The Planet Buster for SFC ("SNES"). On top of bridging any "new territory" for you between Brandish 1 and 3, it is also available in English via a patch. You might want to check that out also. The top row seems to have some options, though. Not sure what they are, but from left to right, I can pick up the word "mode" from first option, and the third option to the right is literally "Mouse". The fifth, right-most option is, I believe, "Exit/Quit/Close". Second row is "Drive 1 DISK 0" and "Drive 2 DISK 1". You might be prompted to "switch floppy disks" (which are virtualized by the Project EGG emulator) here and there, at some points.

Hello! I'm not sure if this part of the forums is still active since the last messages seem to be from quite a few years ago, but I figured I'd give it a shot! I recently finished Brandish on PSP and absolutely adored both stories. After completing Dela Mode 100%, I was intensely craving more Brandish, ideally playable as Dela! I figured it was finally time to try Brandish 3, so I followed the instructions from this board and installed it with Project Egg. It's not my first experience playing a game entirely in Japanese thanks to having played Super Robot Wars F + F Final on Sega Saturn a few years back, but booting up Brandish 3 proved to be a superior challenge. XD After struggling to even understand the very first menu the game presents you with, I managed to pick Dela as my character and click on a button that started the game. (Hopefully the other buttons I ignored were not essential ) As soon as I clicked on that button, I was thrown right into area and the game began (?) Needless to say, going from playing Dark Revenant with a controller to this is pretty mind boggling I managed to move around and rotate the camera with the keyboard, I noticed there is mouse interactivity, though I can't for the life of me figure out if there's a way to equip my magic so that it would be attached to a shortcut button without having to manually click on it each time I want to cast it. Did any of you guys play it? Any pointers on how to comfortably get started and what the controls are? (Also, since this is on Project Egg, do any of you guys know of options I should click on/activate to optimize the experience? I see that the program shifts between my computer's actual mouse and the mouse ''in the game'', but I don't know the shortcut key to switch between both modes XD)

Heck, hate to necropost. Where we've been quoted, it feels only right to respond. We have no current plans with ALoY, unfortunately. We're glad to sign over any power (if we haven't already) to the nearest respectful, responsible and trustworthy member. Xalphenos is definitely someone we'd like to entrust with the care of this place. We currently have several projects in the works; Forest Falcon, Ascended Mermaid Gaming, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Twitch, Twitter, Discord, Fansly , etc. -- we're disabled and desperate for money, tbh, so we're literally using every single avenue possible. Ko-fi, Patreon, CashApp, and working "under the table" (figuratively and literally speaking) . // So basically, we have no time to spend on renovations or preservation with ALoY. As sad and painful as it is to leave it all behind, as they said on Titanic, We bid you adieu, until we meet again. <3

It is very good to see you! As for myself, I had some good years of world travel from 2013-2015. I attended a few more FF and Zelda Concerts in that time too, but mainly I've continued OST collecting, especially Touhou albums, working and drawing the same old stuff. Hopefully I have improved www.deviantart.com/gamemusicfreak I have kept in touch with a few members via twitter. Really enjoying continuing to play Ys, but I still believe Ys IV the Dawn of Ys to be the superior Ys IV.

dodge_clarence@yahoo.com, which is 《www.123yisu.com》 the email. He is the last Ys online site owner I think I tried contacting this address some years back, but I wasn't sure, so I tried again. My e-mail bounced back, as if the address no longer exists (not surprising). Hm, who next? Can we get in touch with former KeyToPlay employees, for YsOL Europe assistance? On a side note, the Game Clients I provided years ago went all offline, so I updated the first post with them all reuploaded. This download link: odysee.com/@testus:7/YsOL-Clients:8For devs out there, I surmise if one could see what are all the client-side calls that are made for the server side, one could make an API to deliver the due / expected responses (AKA server software functionality) to get the game rolling, but... I haven't tried to see the feasability of this. But hey, anyone out there is free to try.

Sort of continuing from " Is this board still alive?", but with less pondering and more removal of all the dust and rubble. Also a place to have non-disappearing conversations, unlike the Shoutbox below. A "talk about anything and everything" thread. Spam talk. Serious talk. Ys talk. I can at least provide some clarity/closure from my own end of things as to what led me to decide to just go my own way, circa 2014. At that time, I was busy beyond belief, with college, work, Italian classes, Hungarian classes, getting documents to live in multiple countries, as well as sorting out certain very important personal affairs. *ahem cough cough* So last thing I could do was to come to a place and spoil the fun for everyone else who was still enjoying a series that, to me, had been vandalized and desecrated by not just terrible localization (got a bit better when XSEED no longer was involved -- nothing personal, Wyrdwad! I genuinely wish you happiness!), but also growingly even by Falcom themselves with complete disregard for lore, characters and world building as early as Ys Celceta (with traces of it, arguably, as far back as 2005's Oath of Felghana, but things only became ridiculously blatant with Ys Celceta). So me having an opinion is one thing... But last thing I wanted was to clash with other people who are just enjoying their games in good fun. I wanted everyone to enjoy them without my crankiness. So with everything combined, I went off to attend and focus on my side of things. I also wasn't confident with the management of ALoY and the direction it was going, and I believe this sentiment was shared among others, as well. As much crap as some people would give Seldane for very small things, he shaped the culture of ALoY into the timeless, memorable place it became, and even with his absence, this culture persisted and continued to carry ALoY forward, but eventually the management problems would also catch up. And voilá, combine everything, and the place just couldn't really sustain itself as a place to keep coming back to, coincidentally not long after I took off. So people branched off into their own respective places, be it other forums or whatever else. And I thought "well, that is fine, too. May everyone take care of themselves and be well". But hey, surprisingly, this place is still up. As in, the platform itself. I thought for sure ProBoards would have vanished by now, but I guess they must still have a role to play for all the big tech overlords out there. I mean, here we are using it, right now! So this place can still serve, it seems, as an occasional hub for discussion, if we see it fit. I do. These days, I'm much more focused on using my time to address real world issues (I mean, we all saw what is going on since 2020, technically even earlier, but it really became stupidly-blatant ever since late 2021), such as the threat of geoengineering (military climate interventions in weather AKA climate engineering - see www.geoengineeringwatch.org for scientific sources, evidence, data etc. from actual meteorologists not afraid of being silenced), as well as more blatant issues that are honestly so blatant, they aren't even worthy of being directly addressed by me, here, anymore (since, thankfully, the people have become uncontrollable about it and now are very outspoken about it, including hundreds of thousands of doctors, which we can cite each, by name, individually. Thank goodness). But I guiltily admit that, on occasion, I still like playing a bit of my own stupid crap with a bit of that time. Like, a lot. So for example just recently I was poking at Ys V (look at my posts as "Ys_Gamer" on GameFAQs, for instance: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/571413-Ys-v-ushinawareta-suna-no-miyako-kefin - I made some big discoveries about that game that I haven't ever seen covered in any language). I also got to try out the godawful "Ys VI Online" that, although it is unbelievably bad, has ONE COOL FEATURE that allows us to easily make, and spam (!), things like this: Or engage in this: So, that's me removing one portion of the Cleria rubble from The Ruins of Moondoria ALoY.

I want to do one thing. I'm not a modder, but I would like you to make a mod of the current Ys games that are remakes of the classics. Among them, Ys I & II Chronicles, The Oath in Felghana and Memories of Celceta. Being remakes of Ys I, II, III & IV respectively. And the mod I'd like to see is to replace the music from those games with the music from the PC Engine CD versions and the Perfect Collection albums. The list of songs I would like to see in this kind of mods are the following: Ys I Chronicles Ys II Chronicles Ys The Oath of Felghana Ys Memories of Celceta : It means that this song does not have a counterpart on the PC Engine CD versions and also not on the Perfect Collection albums. So you better decide which songs should be replaced by others. There was already someone who replaced the music of one of those games, but it only includes the songs of the PC Engine version and does not have the Perfect Collection songs, using instead the PSG songs. Which I will leave in a link. www.moddb.com/addons/Ys-i-chronicles-turbografx-soundtrack-mod-version-1I want to play those remakes, but with the music from the PC Engine CD versions and especially the songs from the Perfect Collection albums. I would feel bad if they include only the PCE songs and the rest being replaced by the PSG songs.

So I stepped on a teleporter at the start of the Fortress teleporter maze and it sent me into the Hummingbird's Head on Fortress 2. The game autosaves on map changes so I can't reload, none of the walls are breakable, and if there's supposed to be a teleporter under me I can't trigger it. Is there a way out of here other than pos hacking?

Still going. I completed up to VI and then when Celceta came out, I decided to play from Oath (III), not being too keen on the I-II Chronicles remakes. I can't wait to break into Seven + but of course doing Celceta means I have to complete V-VI too, hehe. My only glitch with this plan is that ideally, I love the retro versions. So I have older versions of I-II and then suddenly you're obliged to play Oath and Celceta and go back to V on snes!! So I think a remake of V would fix it. Ideally, they will release original PCE I-IV in a collection (as Squaresoft are doing) and you could choose from there!!

Hi I just dropped by to thank everyone for the great memories! I am not good at forums, but this one is exceptional, and I love the Endless History section. Hope everyone keeps safe and has a wonderful 2022!
*Perhaps we could have an e-newsletter, call it 'Sara's Special' or something. Find out what everyone would like to see in the newsletter and have special events, Q&A etc. (just an idea). It might even promote the forum.*

The best I can say is a quote from G'Kar of Babylon 5 ;; I believe that when we leave a place a part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in these halls, when it is quiet and just listen. After a while you will hear the echoes of all of our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone, our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains.(( Spoilerific Scene: www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1emoP8Xh1k )) This forum did it's part in the history of Ys and has long outlived it's relevancy, for better or worse.

I agree, and miss this place dearly. Either way, I would love to see this place make a comeback. It's good to see the posts that have been made this year. A "comeback" ? Well, odds are low for that happening for reasons pointed out, but if I was gonna try, some ideas are: - Take ownership from Seldane/FM-77; he disappeared 10 years ago, if you care and wanna lead this forum into relevancy again somehow, you're gonna need full formal control... Should it really still say "seldane.proboards.com" at the top ? No. He doesn't care, so if you take the reigns, export this out to a new domain with more advanced forum software (like XenForo), it'd be a starting point. A redirect to the new domain, say ancientlandofys.net, would port people over.
Somebody who cares enough would have to lead the place into relevancy again... Does such a somebody exist here anymore ?? This is the least likely idea ever being tried, but just throwing out some idealism if there's a slim chance...
- Like modern consoles with games that could all be ported to Steam/GOG on Windows PC, rendering them obsolete, you need "exclusives." What could the forum provide that's found nowhere else ? Exclusive interviews, YouTube or Twitter stars that are big Ys/Falcom fans (e.g. Happy Console Gamer Johnny), etc.
The DigitalEmelas Twitter for example, if you could get a shoutout/plug by him it could help recruit new membership, but obviously that person is trying to grow his own Discord/Facebook fanbase/presence, so unlikely you'll get help...
You'd have to try befriending and inviting such people to make this place their home, you get the idea. Uphill battle...
P. S. Where is the "Ancient Land of Ys" Discord ?? While you guys slept, you let Ribose jump on that bandwagon first and establish the #Falcom Discord which even I've visited on occasion...
- Raffles/Giveaways/Prizes AKA Bribes! That's right, oldest trick in the book to lure members in under the "exclusives" principle. Offering something nobody else does... Because of how DigitalEmelas grew so quickly, it established back channels with NIS America, XXXSEED, Limited Run Games, etc. to raffle away free Steam codes and even physical collectible products! There's nothing stopping you, Unsavory, from establishing the official "Ancient Land of Ys" Twitter and Facebook account to offer prizes once in a while, quarterly updates about what's going on in Falcom land, classic newsletters, etc. DE can do this every week, and whatever your schedule, you could do it quarterly or twice a year, you get the idea... You're gonna have to make it a mission...
Well, that's random spitballing and as I don't see any of these ideas likely happening, yeah...I can't say there's much future here. As others pointed out though, it's nice that it still exists as a WayBack Machine to look at old threads/interactions that people once cared about whenever the nostalgia mood strikes again... I'm wrestling with the same issue actually, and I think I might purchase XenForo down the road because it integrates with social media better. Reality is Facebook Groups have simply crushed a lot of the competition... Per Xalphenos ' point, overall, people have migrated to less persistent forms of gathering as they care more about hanging out in the present tense with friends be it Discord/FB/Twitter which make it easy/fast especially WITH mobile phones ( too many old forums were built for desktop appearance, and still stuck in the past!). I'm somewhat puzzled by it because I like the thread model and search feature of traditional forum software, and Facebook is still pretty horrible about finding past threads, or at least in its presentation... Anyway, it's an interesting discussion for sure.
