Ys X68000. Never came out on CD, but I think that's the best Ys music there is. The two exclusive tracks, composed by Hiroaki Goto are better than anything Yuzo Koshiro's ever made.
EDIT: How could I forget? The Ys 2 Special soundtrack is far better than the Ys X68000 one. I can't believe I forgot about that!
That's quite possibly my favorite soundtrack ever. It is so insane! Phucking awesome.
I don't like rock music and stuff. Especially not made with synth and crap. I can't stand anything with an 80's sound to it. So I don't care much for the "re-arranged" Ys music (like the music in the PCE games, or YsF, for example). I prefer chip tunes. Always.

If you don't like chip music, I doubt you will like it. I'm a maniac for old chip tunes, especially X68000 music. I'm a sucker for that chip. Man it is awesome. I also strongly doubt you will find it for download. It will be much easier to just download the game itself and have a listen through that. EDIT: Which brings me to the Ys IV JDK Special CDs... They're both excellent (especially the second volume). X68000 renditions of the Ys IV soundtrack. It also includes several completely original tunes (that are awesome). These are the only Ys cds that I actually listen to from time to time. Falcom probably intended to make Ys IV for X68000 (by themselves) originally, but cancelled it due to the declining popularity of the system. Started working on it for Mega-CD instead, but cancelled that too, due to the declining popularity of THAT system. Ys IV was cursed. Not only did they have to license away their work to Tokyo Shoseki (a long time partner of Falcom) to make a weak SFC port, but Hudson also totally butchered their work with The Dawn of Ys (it did turn out to be a nice game though, but with a completely ruined scenario). Man, I love Ys IV. Everything about it. Except the PS2 remake.

well if i get time to il look into getting the game and if possible find the music to download,if i do find the music though ill let you know,as for my interests in music well i like many kinds, like Ys Vi the main menu theme(The Pirate Ship) is amazing aswell as Quatera Woods while Release of the far west ocean(PC opening theme) is different then them but still really good,in all honesty sometimes i like the NES version of games music better then some remakes,so in other words i like all different kinds of music when it comes to games so theres a good chance ill like the Ys X68000 music ^^

Oath of Felghana has some pretty good music. Its all the same really, as the soundtracks have been remixed more than Puff Daddys backlog.

Ys IV the Dawn of Ys is my favorite Ys soundtrack, followed closely by Ys I-III for the Turbografx/PCE.

Even though I pretty much like all the music from all the games, I think I prefer Ys VI's out of them all? I think its basically just because of that track 'Ultramarine Deep'. How I love that! A close second would be Ys I and II's soundtrack. (Though honestly, I think I love the other (arranged?) albums the most, but they don't count as 'soundtracks' do they?)

Ultramarine Deep is such a great song. Out of all the non-chip-tune soundtracks, Ys VI's is my favorite.

This is probably sacrelige, but I prefer Konami's upbeat remix of Ultramarine Deep, played during a particularly difficult minigame on the PSP version. I don't know all the track names by heart, so I'll just say where they're played. Here's my personal list, since I can't pick just one song: Ys I: - The track that plays *outside* of the shrine in the Famicom version; sounds like a Castlevania song. - Dark Fact's theme song. - Dark Fact's boss battle. - The deeper section of the shrine in Ys I. Ys II: - Ruins of Moondoria Ys III: - Clock Tower Ys IV: - Intro - Karna - Leeza - Final Boss - Lilia Kidnapped - The cave by the blood red lake Ys V: - Field of Gale - Mountainous region by the desert Ys VI: - Art of Evasion - Ernst - Opening - Mighty Obstacle Lamb of God: - Walk With Me In Hell - Laid To Rest ...how'd that get there?!

Because you can't mention nothing but good music.
On a more serious note: Art of Evasion; I do not have this. Is that what plays on the Romun ship while you're trying to get away?

I think that might be it but if so its real name is Defend! and Escape! because i have the soundtrack for Ys VI including the Alma's Trials and there is no song called "Art of Evasion"

Yeah, that's what I thought. It's the only one that quickly struck me as being similar.

Art Of Evasion was the minigame for the PSP Ys VI, in which you dodged all of the enemies on a circular field. Therefore I told you where it was played, as opposed to the actual name. That was the remix of Ultramarine Deep.

I'd have to break this down by game! I have no one favourite Ys soundtrack!
However, for now, I will say that The Pirate Ship is one of my fave tunes from Ys VI. :B
