Huh, guess I was pretty wrong, then. Although, I still have yet to finish VI once and for all... so uh, yeah.

Since this was breifly brought up: Is he psp port of VI really that bad? At the moment, it's the only one I have access to getting. It is unbelievably difficult getting a PS2 copy of Napishtim around here... The only copy I found was way back when I didn't even know about the Ys series. ._.
What is so horrid about it compared to the other versions? I'm eventually gonna get all three, but supply dictates I start with the PSP version as its the only one around stores. :/
(Also I'm trying to emulate the Turbo Ys games on PSP, but the steps seem way to complicated and I've been unable to hunt down a way to do it. Anyone know how?)

Oh, minor issues like that don't bother me at all then. Any games I should play beforehand though or can I just dive right into the game without being too confused? (As apparently it has a link with Oath in Felghana?)
Long as it's essentially the exact same game, eh?

Yup, the PSP version is great because Ys VI is great. And as Wyrdy said, if you run it from the memory stick (image) using Custom Firmware, there will be zero load times. I think its problem is that, as Wyrdy said, the graphical detail is not as big, and there are certain framerate slowdown in the huuuuge areas, but it's pretty easy to get used to. By the way, that version DOES have many advantages of its own. Anyway, what matters is that you will likely enjoy it, especially if you run it from your Memory Stick. As for TCD/PCE Ys games on PSP, there's a thread Hide 'N' Seek created about it in the Games Section. Take a look or contact him for those. (As for me, I don't know how it works.)

I would say it's the very contrary. xD The sound and movie/video/cinema qualities in the PSP version are REALLY good. Awesome. It's one of its pluses when compared to the PS2 version, and because of the portability and handiness, it also is on par with the PC version in some ways. (The PSP version also has its own extras, by the way.) All versions of Ys VI rule.

I've played this whole series out of order, and over the course of many years, so I have a hard time fitting the story together. Is there anywhere that has a nice overall timeline summary, by any chance? I seem to recall someplace having that... -Tom If this doesn't exist then it's high time that we make it. I would love something like this

Dunno if this is a right place to ask it but anyway I have been thinking it quite some time. How difficult is the Japanese in Ys games in general? How difficult kanjis and all? What is the recommended years of study at least, if you could say? Of course its possible to clear them without knowledge of japanese but Im not really that kind of type.. I want to know whats the deal there when i play

Time estimates are quite difficult to give because it depends how often and how efficiently you study, but with a dictionary (well, Rikaichan) I was able to get through Origin with close to full understanding after about a year and a half. There isn't a huge amount of dialogue in the games either, which helps a lot.
