My first skill I maxed was Adol's first skill because well it was the first skill in the game and at that point I thought I could max them all. The second one was either Adol's stun-inducing slam or the one where he dashes forward at high speed. I used those almost the entire game for their utility. I got Adol's pentagram attack up to lv.8 or so just from using it so much in the endgame. 50% SP reduction + the generate SP while walking item = spammable.

50% SP reduction + the generate SP while walking item = spammable. That was my set-up too. ^^ I had SP reduction item on the characters I was going to use most and the other two on the team would have the SP regen-while-walking items. :D But even with optimal places to get the materials, it's still grinding of sorts. >:| Hate that. >>:| Thank God for the CWCheats!! :3!

Before that I always ran around with 3 increased rare drop items, or 2 of those and the item that shows chests and monsters on the minimap.

Ye know... I really need to get round to finally noting down on paper which accessory brings about the MP regen and helps level up skills. :'D Since I tend to play this whenever the electricity disappears. So basically, I just whacked on whatever accessory that came in sight, without thinking about it, and have none of these special effect-y, item showing-y-ness about them. Well... perhaps, minus Elk's. Since for some reason his skill's seem to be costing me only 9 or 30 SP. I must have picked something truly amazing by accident. Also, I think I'm onto the path of over leveling-ness, with my extreme happy farming. Adol is already level 55! So far though, I'd been grabbing the SPs from bashing poor corpses with charged attacks. Usually gave me enough to unleash a gigantic attack on the next enemy that has had the misfortune to wander down my path. :'D (By the way! Why is it that when.... say.... I level up some skill number 7 or something for Adol, some very random skill of my party member character levels up too? And by random I mean VERY random! Like some skills I haven't even equipped upon them?!)

Wait, is there an item that increases Skill xp? I thought the best you could do was reduce cost and bump up SP generation so that you could use the Skill you're trying to level more frequently. Skills gain XP even if you don't hit anything, but I think it is reduced. Either that or hitting multiple targets or multiple times is worth Skill XP per hit.
I noticed that while the AI active party members use random Skills at the same time you do, they tend to use skills around the same cost as the ones you use, before any cost reduction.

Are these it? I always thought that meant that it raises the effective level of the Skill (ie- with Necklace of Discipline III a lv. 4 skill would do the effective damage of a lv.7)

Mwahaha. Blame that on misinterpretation of what Nifty Translation translated. XD
Nabbed this off of the Ys SEVEN Wiki site (too lazy to check in-game description):
Necklace I: スキル使用時に上昇する熟練度が 1 増加する
Necklace II: スキル使用時に上昇する熟練度が 2 増加する
Necklace III: スキル使用時に上昇する熟練度が 3 増加する

I also discovered something incredibly simple, yet incredibly stupid of me at the same time, last night. One can see what skill what weapon gives by pressing the square button on it! DX Doh! Could I be any more sillier? That revelation said, Elk's final skill is being leveled up by I most rapidly now. Unfortunately, I don't think I have the walk-SP accessory. *goes back to power crushing corpses*

I am at the part where there are 3 flags on the map. The one to the left is blocked by a bunch of guards camped out, so I went to the one by the woods village. There is a big blue flower in the way. I cant use an item on it. So, I dont know what to do here.
Some help? Also, does the camp of guards go away anytime? How do I get by them?

Ok. I got by the guard camp. I figured the bell was for the markings on the walls. I cant get past the flower though.

There are many of those big blue flowers in the dungeon. You need to look for the big sap crystals nearby and use the item wyrd mentioned on them. In the main room, you need to use it several times for a very large flower, and some of the crystals will be corrupted by some unknown plant thing when you use the item on them. Go and destroy those and retry.
That should help. I'm really lucky I got through most of the game without needing help.

Hello all! Long story short, Dogi's been poisoned. How do I cure him? I know there was a cure for poison in Ark of Napishtim for PS2, but this is a different game in a different language, and I'm freakin' out, guys. Halp, pls? Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else. I don't have much time to look over pages of posts, if you understand. Thanks!

About that... I've been through the shops, erm, somewhat. xD I don't understand what I'm doing there, so I usually just leave without buying anything. I've picked up numerous items after slaying some monsters. Would any of these items be a cure poison fix? Thanks for being so helpful. I am extremely happy that this website was linked in the GameFAQs guide. Otherwise, I'd be really lost. On a side note, though, I'm somewhat fluent in Chinese, so I understand the story line just a little, when the kanji characters come up. Just an example, in the beginning (where I'm at), the NPCs say " " a lot, so I understand at least that Adol and Dogi are being called "foreigners." It's those little things that make me perk up and go, "Hey, I finally know what's going on... sorta!"

I believe the item that cures poison is called Panacea or something similar, and not coincidentally, it also cures all other status ailments for the entire party. The icon looks like a piece of white paper or cloth turned 45 degrees with three brown balls on it. I think you can carry a large amount of them at once, probably 9, as I've held 6 or 7 at once. And they go fast when you need them.

Thanks, wyrdwad; I appreciate all the effort you put into these threads. Dogi being poisoned wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Indeed, it went away after a while. Mutamuta-kun: So THAT'S what that item is! Thanks for the tip. Well, back to playing Ys...

Don't remember if I heard this right, but was there something about healing item restrictions based on difficulty? I started on Hard the first time but I'm curious about this since it plays a part in whether it's worth venturing into Nightmare on a second playthrough (hopefully with a Western release so I can read more than about 5% of the text)

Hi everyone.
I'm kinda stuck: I'm at the point where there are 3e flags on the map. I already solved the dungeon at Segram (the desert village) and Kylos (the one with the windmills). Before that I already went to Shannoa (Tree Village) where the blue-haired woman joined my party and I already went through the whole dungeon but I couldn't find anything to to so I went to the other dungeons. But now after I finished these I'm back at Shannoa!!!
I really have not the slightest idea what I have to do there! I explored the whole dungeon again, went up and down and so forth, looked where the "seal" was (after the 1st boss fight). It seems nothing helps there.
So: What is expected here? Any hints I missed?
