*That's suck as in the general population's given the thing a low score.
Something like CHAOS LEGION. I think this thing has a critic and user average rating of 40 - 50%. ^^; (But that's only cuz people are stupid and compared the game to Devil May Cry.) Too lazy to go check GameRankings and Meta Critic.
Sure, the thing's monotonous as hell, doesn't have much of a story, full of mindless hacking-and-slashing, and it's pretty damn linear but IT'S STILL FUN! :O! (Plus the soundtrack is awesome.)
'Course, this may be because I like hack-and-slash games! :D *pats Dynasty Warriors games* (Although, I must admit, DW5 sucked ass.)
This is seriously one of the only games I own where I can pop it back into the system (PS2) and play through it from start till end time and time again. Chaos Legion is probably the single most-played game I have. ^^;
Come! Share your list (or one title) that's on just about everyone's hate list!

Strange! I was planning on making a thread about "They think the game rules* but hey, you hate it!" this morning. I can't think of much. People like to hate on the Halo series (but that's entirely because it's popular - those who hate it haven't played it)... well, they're wrong. Those games are great. Perhaps the world's most underrated game series. (Kidding! Or am I?) No wait. Here's the world's most underrated game series: Brandish. Those games are some of the best I've played. People don't exactly hate them, but it's more like nobody has the guts to try them. I don't know why, but I don't really care. It's their loss. Oh! And keep this in mind: Whoever says Ys IV or Ys V for PS2 in this topic will be banned. I'm serious! (Or am I?)

Call me your exception, FM-77. I've actually played Halo a few years back, and it just didn't appeal to me. In all honesty, I'd rather have been playing Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem, or Metroid Prime. I don't mind watching Red Vs. Blue though. That's some good stuff. I'm not *all* anti X-Box, and infact, I'd rather have a 360 than a PS3 sometime in the future. More affordable, and it looks like they have a better selection this time around, with less games ported to and extended on the PC. (Fable, I'm talking about you! I love Fable, by the way... but only on the PC.) A game that doesn't get a whole lot of praise? Kiwi Kraze/New Zealand Story. At least, not a whole lot of praise in the US. It may be cutesy, sure, but at least Tiki the Kiwi doesn't say "Kiwi! KIWI! Kiiii... WIII!!!!" over and over again.

I love Halo, by the way... but only on the PC. Halo (as with every game in the fps genre) is only enjoyable on PC.

The battle system also featured a "combine" ability, which most players never ever found out about due to the fact that it was never mentioned in any in-game tutorials (you'd have to find out about it online, or read the instruction manual, to know it existed). HA. You know what Okage needed? An NPC (or even enemy) that would randomly shout "RTFM" every now and then.

So the X-Box version < the PC version of Halo just as well as Fable? What makes the PC version superior? Also, what can it offer for those of us who aren't big fans of online/co-op? Also, I can relate to Wyrdwad; the people that played New Zealand Story Revolution and gave it bad reviews were mostly pissed off because they couldn't figure out how to get out of some rooms; because they added the ability to double-jump and the ability to fly for short periods of time! That, and they're clearly colorblind because they try to jump on background elements. If people grew a brain, they'd realize that it was an extraordinary experience for retro fans and Kiwi Kraze/NZS fans alike. I mean, who opens their instruction manuals anymore?! I knew about flying and the double-jump before I even opened the darn thing, so I never ever got stuck. Not to mention there are only 1:2 good reviews for it.

Strange! I was planning on making a thread about "They think the game rules* but hey, you hate it!" this morning. :P Forgot to comment about this but that thread should be made! I want to harp on Myst! Lord, I hate that game with a passion.

Hey, I hate Myst too (the entire series, somewhat excepting Riven). Anyway...I thought of another one! Ys VI PSP! I loved that game so much! Granted, I DID play it with a higher clock speed than intended (333MHz rather than 222), and off a memory stick to boot, so the load times were almost non-existant, and the frame rate was acceptable... but still. That game is tons of fun. Sure, it is flawed in many ways (bad sound and graphics, in particular), but it is still Ys VI. A super fun game. Not a lot of people seem to share my feelings on this though. Although I can understand that.

Haha, yes! I can totally agree with you, FM-77! Ys VI IS very good for the PSP, but nobody gives it a chance because hardly anyone plays it off of the stick at 333 MHz like we do. Of course, that was on the fat PSP and even then, became completely acceptable. I also loved the minigames more than the trials. =\ Why's everyone hating on the minigames? They're almost essential for getting to level 60!

I'm fine with Ys VI PSP, now that I have a slim. The load times fall totally within acceptable range on the slim. (: -Tom I wonder though -- would it still be faster if it was on the memory stick in the slim? :O

Definitely. Then it would be just as fast as on the memory stick on a phat PSP.

Yeah, I think any difference between the slim and fat PSP would be pretty negligible at that point. -Tom Is the slim faster? If so I also hope there is a better battery in it too. I really liked star fox adventures for the Gamecube. I just finished it almost 3 months ago, and it was oddly addictive. Im also a pretty big fan of a certain rehash, of a certain fourth installment on the ps2. The soundtrack is also a big favorite of mine as well..... I really hope he doesn't figure out what game I am talking about.

Breath of Fire 4? Ys IV? Silent Hill 4? Resident Evil 4? Suikoden 4? (was that on the PS2?) Now that's not very nice. This thread's here so you can talk about games you like which happen to be games everyone else hates, including some staff and regulars. It can't be THAT bad, and even if it is... well, we'll forgive you. Afterall, there are a LOT of under appreciated games listed here.

Off-topic: I've noticed in the past that my PSP would crash during GBA emulation (I know, bad) and UMD emulation (Ys VI; owned games) via memory stick. I'm not sure but was this somehow resolved during future custom firmware upgrades? The reason I ask is because I don't remember seeing my PSP crash after I upgraded to DAX's 2.5 CFW. Also: I loved the 3D Sonic (and Shadow) games, with the exception of Sonic and the Secret Rings. I've noticed a major decrease in fans supporting Sega and the Sonic Teams lately and all I can really think to ask is, what's the BFD? Most of them are generally fast-paced and full of action, the camera doesn't REALLY screw up if you're not missing around like some primitive screwheads do, and the only way I've glitched through floors is if I really tried. (finding creases and doing my damnedest to glide/fly/homing attack/jump/dig/spindash/etc. through them) Of course, I find that the people that tend to enjoy these games tend to be very damn good at them too, generally. (might I direct you to my all A rank and full emblem files, the 100% completionist games -- Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, almost done with Shadow the Hedgehog and NiGHTS: JoD)

justinzero: The PSP slim has UMD caching, which makes games load *very noticeably faster* when you toggle it on. It'll still never beat games run off the mem stick. XD

Yes, but you need custom firmware for that. And I'm not willing to potentially have to wait a week or two to play the next game I buy. (: Your Internet connection is that bad? I think the last time I had to wait a week for something to finish downloading was the PC version of Chaos Legion (US).

I don't really mind the load times, I am usually doing 15 things at once anyways. Really I think we should rejoice. This generation of gaming has been blessed with 2 very good handhelds, and I am still at odds to decide which I like better. Hell we even got Ys releases on both of them!!

I don't know if this qualifies but I really enjoy playing Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song but everyone else seems to hate it I really like this game because it's challenging and gives you as much freedom as you want in making your party and doing sidequests. Seriously, grinding and learning skills don't take as long as people generally think they do. The character models seemed O.k., too. I found it rather unique that characters look like midgets. I don't understand why people don't like this game that much. And another game that I would like to talk about is Shadow Hearts: From the New World. Seriously, even people who like Shadow Hearts series hate this game because they think it is not as good as Shadow Hearts: Covenant. I don't understand why because they improved quite a bit on gameplay. The battles in general became harder which is a good thing since Shadow Hearts: Covenant was so easy that one can beat up even bosses with normal attacks alone. Also, the combo system became more balanced so that it can no longer be abused. Yeah, sure, the atmosphere is lighter and the story in overall is more "predictable" than last two games, but the game deserves more love.

No no, you misunderstand. Basically, if a new game comes out that requires a more recent official firmware, I don't want to be stuck with some custom job that won't let me play it, and have to wait days or weeks for the custom firmware to be updated to support higher versions of the official firmware. Well, I wonder if it's about that playing games as much as it is being able to access the new or updated stuff that comes with newer firmware. I'm still on 3.40 custom fw and can still play Crisis Core US which is on 3.71, I believe. At least, that's the fw upgrade that shows up under the game in the PSP menu. Lots of homebrew goodness cuz it's not all about pirating and emulating games~! *cough*
