Just watched No Country For Old Men and it was great. Total throw back to the 90's psychological action thrillers. Plus that air gun is super cool.

Got back from Prince Caspian a short while ago. It was quite good, though quite a bit darker than the first Narnia movie... and I think ultimately, I liked the first one better, if only because the ending of this one kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. I mean, I know it's Christian allegory and all, but I still think Aslan came across as a bit of a jerk this time around. The first movie's thinly veiled Christianity made me think, hey, for an organized religion, Christianity ain't half bad! But this one just made me think, man, if the way this obvious Jesus figure acted is indicative of how the real Jesus supposedly acted, then I just don't know anymore! I mean, seriously, he acts like a little kid who refuses to come out of his room until you beg him. Also, everybody had weird accents in this movie. I guess this was done to make the human figures seem more "exotic," but there was no consistency - there were like, 4 or 5 distinctly different accents used by aristocrats who all hail from the same kingdom. And really, having regional accents without having REGIONS doesn't make much sense. Was he really that obnoxious? I obviously haven't watched it (and probably won't be anytime soon too, until some proper dvd version pops by), but as far as I remember... Aslan wasn't THAT bad in the book? (But then I read them quite some while back [even re-read them quite some while back!]) Hem... ofcourse they do tend to butcher the books in movie forms. I really want to really see now! (So that I can go 'ew!' at it! ) Random theory for accents from one who has not watched - perhaps it was because of the mix of nationalities who are supposed to be in Narnia at that time? The trueborns, the Telmarines, the British kids and (were they there in this book/movie?) the Calormen nobles?

Ok, so that sent me off on such curious fits that I actually ran off to find the book at this unearthly hour and see what happens in it. I don't see any great roaring battle happening... Apparently Lucy finds Aslan the night before the big battle? (Aaaand... I think he was waiting for them...?) And he hasn't said any such obnoxious statement so far (or none that I've found through my rapid flipping). He just did some heroic roaring, prancing, cuddling and is now shouting for refreshments. Methinks I desprately need to re-read! (And desprately need to see the movie too! Sounds like major butchering of story!)

Answer is simple, Wyrdy. Aslan is a Libertarian. You simply need to read his reply as "Fuck you, I got mine", and all allegory makes logical sense as well. I don't if this Aslan is supposed to represent Supply Side Jesus or not.

Saw two movies recently- well technically three in the advent of many family members receiving tax returns. --- Iron Man - I was never a major fan of the comics but I did like this movie quite a bit. It wasn't an amazingly in depth plot but the character byplay was fun and the effects plenty good. I'd never recommend it if you were wanting something of epic proportions but it was fun.
Death Note- The first of the two live action movie spin offs of the manga and anime; it takes key events from both incarnations but by in large is still very much an AU take on the whole affair. Some events play out very differently and Light becomes a twisted, heartless li'l psycho much faster than he did in the manga or anime due to time constraints.
Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull- It's an Indy movie; what more is there to say? True, the movie isn't quite as action packed as the previous three, but Harrison Ford's not exactly young anymore, either. I can't say too much on the plot without giving stuff away- but I'll simply repeat what I said above: it's an Indy movie. It's the character who found the Ark, tackled a psycho cult that could tear hearts out of people and leave them alive and then went on to find the Holy Grail- fighting Nazis all the way. I think that states everything you need to know about how quirky the plot is. Just sit back with your popcorn and enjoy the antics: it's an Indy movie. That's what you're supposed to do.

Thank god it's not an indie film. Low budget in-house flicks tend to suck hardcore... and I've seen my share, unfortunately. (Thing is, I'm not the one who rents that crap around here.) The last movie I saw was The Nutty Professor. Great movie!

Still need to see Iron Man and Indy, but I watched the Vampire Effect! It's a great martial arts movie with vampires.

Saw Indiana Jones a few days the other night. Damn good movie. Harrison Ford still delivers just as much as he did back in the 80's and Shia LaBeouf is really starting to make a name for himself. Can't wait to see The Dark Night in the near future.

Saw Iron Man last week, and loved it. From the perspective of a lifelong super-hero comic book fan, I don't think it could have been better. Rules!
Today I saw Incredible Hulk, and was completely blown away by the awesomeness! It's a million times better than the Ang Lee Hulk movie! Finally Marvel is able to make comic book movies the way they are supposed to be done. Everything about this movie was just fantastic, and Ed Norton as Bruce Banner was cast perfectly just as Robert Downey Jr. was for Tony Stark.

I also just saw Get Smart, and will wholly concur with your statement. Never seen the original show, but this movie was pretty much exactly what I was hoping for: over-the-top slapstick spy action in the same vein as the Naked Gun series. The biggest difference? Maxwell Smart is actually competent! A refreshing change of pace. -Tom In the origional tv series Max was not really competent and had too much ego. They did a great job of graying that whole aspect. If they used this new formula they might be able to make another tv series again. The origional tv series was really funny also.

I may have to see Get Smart then. I used to love watching the original show, because the re-runs came on right after Robotech. I was afraid they might ruin it, and I just couldn't imagine anyone else other than Don Adams as Maxwell Smart.

Wow, you sure like throwing away your money! But I guess you're all for the big screen and exceedingly loud digital sound. :P
I'll probably be watching Wall-E next week with a friend. :D I have NO expectations of the film (other than hoping that Wall-E will remain cute and innocent like in the goofy vignettes on the official site). :DDDDDDD
I'm curious about Kung-Fu Panda too! The moment I saw the poster, I dismissed it as being stupid and lame but man, reviewers seem to love it and a lot of my LJ friends too. Hirm!!!!
Oh yeah, I think I said I was probably going to Indy but it turns out I never did! XD

I saw WALL-E over the weekend. I enjoyed it, but not as much as I was expecting to. There are some great scenes in it, though.

Last movie I watched was Indy 4. Good old indie. And I think Shia Lebeouf is a kick ass actor. Loved him ever since Transformers.
Wanted to watch Get Smart and The Big Brooding Green Manthing called Hulk. But work took away most of my free time these few weeks.
I'll be watching the other Big Brooding Red Manthing called Hellboy 2 this Saturday though. Looking forward to it.

Shia used to annoy me; I mean, he wasn't bad on Even Stevens, but I couldn't see him playing any serious roles like he did in Constantine -- badass movie, and I suppose Shia played his part well.

I believe there's going to be a movie called Eagle Eye starring Shia. He's spotting a goatie though... I suppose in the movie he's trying to act 10 years his age.
