Naw, it's okay, I have a Pandora battery ready-made. So you can downgrade right back even from 5.55? I may actually break the seal this weekend then...

Install OFW then use whatever button you've set as your pandora boot button on the magic memory stick (usually the L trigger) to switch back to custom.

My Pandora Battery works another way: I insert it and turn on the PSP. xD lol
As long as your PSP doesn't have "the devil's board" (as we popularly call it here in Brazil), the Pandory Battery will ALWAYS do the trick, no matter what, as long as you have readied a magic memory stick.
About "the devil's board", it's the one that's present in all PSP-3000 and the latest PSP-2000. Pandora Batteries are useless before those.

Yeah, the one I use custom on is an original model 1000 battery, so it was a piece of cake to make a pandora out of.
Kekeke.

curious, i had problems converting my rockman x4 psx disk to a psp eboot. It kept cropping out the .xa files (The music files the X games for psx used, also included a few voice clips) This was a blessing and a curse, as the xa files took up like 75% of the games file size and i was left with a game around 35 megs, but all that quiet space was kinda depressing. lol sorry sidetracked

Nope. The confirmation email I got when I preordered said it wouldn't ship until the 18th so I'm not really expecting it for a few days.

Not having seen these videos for fear of spoiling more than I'd like, could any of that be attributed to the players perhaps not starting out on Nightmare like some of us are wont to do?

I've seen videos of the fire golem.
The fire golem seems to start with a pattern similar to that of Galva-Roa in VI, and then as the battle goes on starts doing different things. I'd have to say that's the first boss video I've seen of a boss in the game that I found reminded me of the previous games' bosses.
One of the things that struck me is everyone is doing such small amount of damage. I wonder if it's because of an under-level problem or maybe all the bosses got a massive HP boost.

It might also be because you have 3 people attacking him at once?

I don't die too much on normal except when I do stupid crap. Like drowning. Ha. I almost did that when I was going after a treasure in the large tree at Shannoa (like one of the party members almost keeled over). ^^ I panicked and kept dashing back to the surface area. ^^; One stupid habit I have is that I switch controlling members in the middle of a boss' *attack*. :P Almost got Adol killed that way. XD He went down to 98 HP after a while of me not escaping attacks and switching between him and the other 2 members. ^^;

I probably would've done that if not for watching someone make the same mistake on a stream a few days earlier.

Yeah, I made that stupid mistake as well. Like Ys VI, the new system is wonderful but there are some tiny points that tend to be annoying (i.e. drowning, status effects, those way too powerful boss monsters at the beginning, etc.). I do expect Falcom to fix those things and PERFECT this new system in their next game, like they did with OiF after Ys VI.

The drown meter was already used in Ys Origin and Xanadu Next, though. It's old hat, at this point. -Tom Ys OiF didn't have it and it's my favorite game. One of the reasons why I like Ys: OiF so much is that it got rid of most of the annoying features in Ys VI (i.e. status effects except poison but I don't mind that one, dash jumping) and improved upon the remaining features (i.e. the sword combos became fast and effective with burst option to deal out massive damage in one go, transportation device to decrease the time wasted in backtracking). It retained only the good points from Ys VI's system, removing the rest, and focused on improving those points to perfection. I will say that removing annoying features is trivial compared to making / improving awesome features, but removing them will definitely help highlight awesome features to players so why not do it as well?
