*fist-pump* Hell yeah, Sword of Mana like a MF! Funny thing is, I'm WAY ahead of you! ...well, not WAY ahead, I'm only on Topple on my PSP, BUT! I did beat the game on my GBA already!

There's also the remake of Seiken Densetsu for Japanese cell phones, but I won't hesitate to emulate it if I can! So now there's remakes of Seiken Densetsu and Seiken Densetsu 2 for the Japanese cell phones, set for a 2010 release. As I've said in another topic, the remake of Seiken Densetsu 2 actually looks decent -- they could actually be correcting a lot of the BS we've been complaining about. If nothing else, the game LOOKS prettier... =\

If only it would get released outside of Japan, it does look pretty good...

*nods* If we're lucky, they'll get the hint and release those here just like FFIV:TAY... otherwise, there's emulators, fan-translating communities, and if nothing else, the original gameboy game to help us out. // It is kindof weird that the hair colors and styles switched. We had a blonde guy (with long hair) and a brunette girl in Sword of Mana. He clearly wasn't blonde in the G B version. Now they look more like their G B counterparts!

Just watched the new trailer, & it looks great, but, I gotta say, more & more it's looking like an Ys ripoff of sorts, though, maybe I'm wrong? It's fast gameplay with combo's, plus, now that Ys Seven has you switching characters, Lufia does too.
In any case, it looks cool. Sure, it's wierd that it's now an action RPG, but, I got over that awhile ago, & am totally looking forward to it, though, I really wish it was on PSP. The only reason I can think of for it to be on DS, is cuz of the larger number of systems sold, but, really, PSP ain't doing bad. I alllllmost wonder if Square would port it to PSP down the line, as more companies seem to be doing these days, but, Square doesn't seem like the type to do that. Oh well.

Like queue them up or something. The game looks INSANELY nice for a DS game. o_O; But then, it's Square Enix so that's sort of expected. XD Also, I think this game will FRUSTRATE me due to the puzzles and the amount of jumping in them. :P I probably won't be able to finish it until someone writes a walkthrough. >_>; Ooh. Looks like pre-orders get a premium arranged mini soundtrack. I don't know if places like Play-Asia will carry it though. I think the tunes are: - Opening Theme
- Battle #2
- Sky (It's literally 空 ... don't remember what track this is. Too lazy to get my Estpolis II OST to check.)
- For the Saviour
- Final Battle
It also includes 3 drama tracks with Maxim, Selan and ... the night before the final battle??? Oh yeah, the official soundtrack will be released on March 3, which is roughly a week after the game's release.

It's fast gameplay with combo's, plus, now that Ys Seven has you switching characters, Lufia does too. I noticed the Ys SEVEN similarity too and pondered if that was intentional. Maybe SE is trying to tap that type of gameplay while also including a cult game like Lufia II, but I read too much into stuff. Don't get me started on my theories involving Sazh's English voice in FFXIII A big difference is that they kept the puzzles in. That was a huge deal in the original games and something that Ys does not have.

Famitsu gave the game 30/40. D:
Not that it matters but it's still fun to know~~~ XD
Also, I've decided not to buy the game since I know that I will either a) not bother finishing it, or b) finish it and not play the English one when (and it will! JUST YOU WATCH!) it comes out. :V
Instead, I pre-ordered the soundtrack only. ^^;

Here's how the Four Sinistrals look now. I gotta say they look more badass than the original. Dual Blade looks cooler to boot as well.

Still looks creepy to me. Like he was trying to be menacing, then started thinking about puppies, then started thinking about how he'd kill those puppies

I agree, lol. He just has that expression of "awww, cute kittens..." on his face. Meanwhile, the guy on top has a more menacing DBZ-villain feel to him. Like Evil Buu, his soul purpose seems to be "Destroy the planet, because that's all I want."
The one on the bottom-left is more like "Why me...?" and on the bottom-right, she's like "Love is such a profound thing. I've sought happiness all my life, but nothing ever works out. I guess villainy is all I have to offer..." -- emotional-looking villains that one could ALMOST empathize with. I know nothing about the sinistrals, lol.
She looks sad, but at the same time, she looks like she could almost smile.

I'm with Wyrd. He looks like he was trying to be menacing, but then started thinking about puppies, and then about how he would kill those puppies and FINALLY he thought about how he would organise the most loveliest flowery FUNeral evar!

It's pretty fun so far. I'm waiting on my legit copy of the game to arrive from PlayAsia for now but by the miracle of modern science and technology I'm enjoying it as we speak. Combat is serviceable, but it lacks the punch that the better entries in the genre have. The music and level design so far are where the game shines, and the fact that Maxim actually has little back and forths with every NPC instead of just hearing them spew one line of dialogue is a nice touch.

She looks sad, but at the same time, she looks like she could almost smile. Considering you know nothing about them, that's actually a fairly accurate description (minus the guy with the goofy smile =p). Regarding the picture above, Amon (guy with the blue hair) looks really out of place. As far as I can remember, the previous Lufia games didn't give us too much info on him, but I always figured him to be a short-tempered fellow, kind of like Gades (red-haired guy). Certainly nothing like what the above picture suggests...

Epic Fail on the Sinistrals photo. They look like Calvin Klein models, and not like scary, giant, imposing, intimidating individuals which the name "Sinistrals" suggests.

Managed to start playing the game. Got to the second Gades fight and well... let's just if you try to do this Ys-way (as in no healing in the battle), it will be a decent challenge provided that you didn't overlevel (lvl. 13~14 seems about right). The guy has three phases and can combo you to death in few seconds if you are not careful. All "boss battles" before them were lacklustre at best but this one more than made up for it. BTW, Unsavory's description seems to be right on for Amon and Dhaos as apparently Amon's the brain-but-no-brawn guy (the easiest beatable one) while Dhaos acts like a pure evil bastard. I haven't heard anything about how hard Dhaos and Erim are, but I assume you can probably make yourself so overpowered by the time you face them that it doesn't matter how hard they are supposed to be. Oh well, I will keep posting as I find out more.

Lulz.
I'm just glad the game puts you at the point after the last ladder if you happen to shoot Maxim off the edge like I did. Of course, it wasn't deliberate.
Stupid wind.
