Because Massea's too old and Niena... I got nothing. She'd have made just as much sense. Then again, I seem to be in the minority that likes Terra.

Yeah, I don't like her either. Ys VI would have been much better with just Olha.
Then again, Olha is my favorite Ys girl (not because of the ears/tail either, I'm not a furry) so I may just be biased towards her.

You called, good sir? I hate elf ears. Pretty indifferent towards tails, though leaning towards negative.

I agree with HJ on something, awesome.
Humans all the way, man.

Meh, all the main female characters in Ys VI are pretty weak characters IMO.
Isha is just Falcom submitting to the imouto stereotype. Olha is your generic mousy-voiced shrine maiden for the main (masculine) hero to make swoon. This includes her getting captured. Terra spends her time yelling but... doesn't really do much plotwise. She was more active in what I've seen of Ys V.. and I haven't even finished the game!

[Insert long-winded retort] ....and she wields a bow! She's easily one of the most skilled fighters in her tribe! ..... [More long-windedness along this line of thinking] :D

Meh, everything about Ys VI just wasn't up to par with the rest of the series (still haven't played IV or V). Easily my least favorite Ys game in every aspect.

Well IV won't change anything, that game is great. V on the other hand...

Not gonna play V unless a remake is made, in which case it'd probably blow VI away. Same with IV, for that matter.

Plus, there are those ears and tails. I mean, who DOESN'T like elf ears? And the tail is just... I dunno... cool. I've found myself wondering if there's a deleted scene where Adol gets curious about the tails and finds out the hard way that you shouldn't touch one without permission, a la Utawarerumono.

Elf fetish, huh? I have to agree with HJ and Mutagene on this one. It's just irritating see those pointy-eared bastards' always complaining that humans are evil / untrustworthy monsters. I just love how royally Bioware screws over elves in Baldur's Gate II and Dragon Age: Origins. I gotta disagree with wyrdwad on best selections. IMO, Ys II's heroines were the best since they set the examples for other anime/ video game heroines to follow. Not gonna argue with art style or music since that's each to his or her own. For me, it's a toss-up between Ys II Eternal and Ys: OiF for art style and Final Battle from Ys I for final battle theme. I seriously believe the best villager dialgoue is Ys II Complete, though. You can even talk to monsters and find out about amusing tidbits. Not to mention villagers' dialogue changes every time you fireball them in the face or give presents Can't get any more detailed than that.

Gotta agree with Wyrd on that one. I've been replaying the game lately and I realized that there are five complete sets of NPC dialogue for just the events leading up to the first boss. That's just awesome.

I suppose the more detailed dialogue is nice, but... who cares about additional NPC dialogue if it comes at the cost of the actual characters (aside from Ernst, Dogi and Adol of course) being annoying twats? That's a terrible exchange.
And good heavens, Depth Napishtim was just horrible noise. After hearing Ernst (the song) I thought the game was finally gonna flex its musical muscle, but then it throws a that mess at me.

Oh, you're right, I was thinking of Black Ark Unveiled. Depth Napisthim actually wasn't bad... but far from being a contender for the best, or even top 5, if you ask me.

The great thing about Ys is everytime I decide on my favorite boss/dungeon/etc theme someone else mentions another great one that makes me question my choice. I'd like to go down on record that Ys has the strongest set of soundtracks of anything ever </blatantly biased>.

The Orihime version of Boy Has Wings was what I was thinking of before... couldn't find the tower of destiny mix I had in mind.
