It just seems strange that Falcom hasnt ported Oath and Origins for the PSP yet and all of a sudden they ditch the PC and deside to make the next installment only for the PSP?

Falcom could even add a few extras to the PSP ports to get PC owners incentive to buy the game again.

Hmm, while I con't care too much if it comes to PC, I would much rather see it on PS3, I like Ys as a console series(aka playing it on my tv). I wonder if there's any chance it would ever be ported, that would be nice! Either way, I'll buy it.

Same here. I don't care about PC release as much I do about NA release. Seriously, Falcom just needs one solid game to gain solid ground in the video game market over here. Since this is "Five Dragons of Altago" we are talking about, Falcom will not disappoint.

I have 2000, though I don't have a tv it works on, other then an old projection tv that my brother gave me. I'm still trying to figure out the best place to put it in my living room, & if the picture will be all that great on a white sheet. I'd rather have it on PS3

Are we talking about something 100% sure. Or is it pure speculation? Where are the sources speaking of a psp version?

ouchh thanks. Suicide mode on. Grab the docs here www.falcom.com/kaisya/ir/index.htmlMonster Hunter has moved millions, Phantasy Star Portable sold 800K right alongside a budget re-release of the uber popular Monster Hunter 2nd G, so I guess Falcom is banking on the fact that Japan hasn't had enough co-op killing on the PSP. That and there's a pretty good Gundam 8 player battler...

Varion: The slim PSP is sooooo much more comfortable to hold than the fat one... you have no idea! In addition to being lighter, it's also thinner, and all that awkward contouring on the back is gone, making it feel more like a rectangular SNES controller than anything else. With the fat PSP, I couldn't play more than an hour and a half or so before my hands cramped up... with the slim PSP, the sky's the limit! I guess we'll have to disagree on the analog nub, though. I love the thing... it's far more responsive, and far less straining on my thumb, than a standard analog stick, as far as I'm concerned. I'd take the nub over the stick any day of the week! -Tom Okay, so I picked up a 3000-series PSP today and have played a few hours of Brandish for testing - and yeah, it is significantly better than the original. It feels like half the weight, it is definitely slimmer and more comfortable to hold, and TV out would basically be worth the price in itself. Don't get me wrong though, I'm still not happy 7 will be on the PSP The kanji are too small and blurry, it's still not as comfortable as a regular pad, and I like my bigger resolution anyway. I've just gone from 'Screw this' to 'Will follow news and preorder' again.

This isn't over yet! *shakes fist*
...Nah, really, I'm happy to concede. Brandish doesn't use the analog for movement though, so I'm still unsure if that's any more comfortable... Guess I'll try Gurumin tomorrow.

The analog nub is unchanged from the 1000 to the 2000, and I would assume unchanged from the 2000 to the 3000 as well. That one's just a matter of opinion - I love it, but it seems a lot of people hate it. -Tom Well no I didn't mean the nub itself, just how the change in general comfort would affect what it's like to play using the nub rather than the d-pad.

I think you two need PSPs, stat. -Tom wyrdy you know I have one! It's just pure pain to play on. We've had this discussion. I think I'm going to have to buy a second one, though, because I'm going to need the TV output or reading the text in Legend of Heroes 7 is going to give me migraines. Is there a TV output for PSP?

Is there a TV output for PSP? Yeah, PSP-2000 can output to HDTVs, 3000 to both HDTV and SDTVs. It's bordered (though most HDTVs have an option to stretch it on their own, I think) but looks pretty good anyway.

Please excuse the noob questions, I don't have a PSP. But can you do this right out of the box? Can I just buy a PSP at a store and hook it up to my tv with wires I already have? Or does it require a special wire, or special software. Also how can you tell PSP versions apart from each other.

Apparently there's a little red line on the 3000 series box that mentions its built-in microphone and higher contrast features. Outside of that though, most store price labels (especially at Walmart) have "PSP 2000" or "PSP 3000" on them. // As for your other question, I don't have a 2000 or 3000 series PSP, so I can't answer that.

Or does it require a special wire, or special software. Also how can you tell PSP versions apart from each other. 1. They sell cables with PSP written on - for SDTVs there's composite and for HDTVs component, and in Japan there's D-Terminal too but I don't think any TVs outside Japan have that. Usually a few brands with varying prices. 2. The version will be written on the box, though I think all new ones are 3000s now, and if you were buying a second hand one off, say, Amazon, it'd be clearly in the item name. You can see PSP-3000 in the bottom left corner of the front of the box here.

You need a special cord - something like this: www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-jd-49-en-70-2jk3.htmlAlthough I have official Sony ones, and am not sure how well third-party cords like this would work by comparison (though this one is certainly a LOT cheaper than the official Sony version!). Considering component and composite are both analog signals I wouldn't really advise going too cheap as cable quality makes a difference, especially as the company who made that one you linked seem to be into making cheap crap (look at the price of their extended battery and some of the reviews for it).
