Every day I think of the day that I see "Ys Seven or *Insert Falcom game here* Announced for PSP" on Xseed's homepage. Anyway, I was searching through the net regarding Falcom's decision, I stumbled on this post at gamespot. "I heard some dudes on my Ys forum say that during a Japanese FALCOM conference it was saif that X-Seed and Konami were interested in localizing it so chances are actually good." www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=27048638Its the 11th Post I assume he is talking about Ys Seven since someone asked about the recent Ys on the PSP and Ys Seven was the closest. I wonder what Ys forum he was talking about and where the person got information about this Falcom Conference. The quoted post seems to be true, but I don't know. Note: The post date on the quoted post is September 23, 2009. That date is before Falcom made its announcement about being interested in North American releases. I apologize if this is the wrong thread to post this in.

Hmmm. Despite this and Wyrd's words of encouragement, I still have no belief in this. I'll happily eat my words in case I do turn out to be wrong, though.

*pops a bottle of champagne for Wyrd* Toast to you and your sources. XD The guessing game for me of who its gonna be has begun. I actually have a preference of who I want to localize this, but we will see and the fact that something might be comming is awesome. Ive been looking through falcom's license information website everyday since january trying to find any clues. LOL.

LOL. You caught me before I can edit my post. What would be amazing is if we see the Ys I&II Seven Set, in U.S. Lunar already brought back big boxes, so if it is who I hope is localizing this, we might see a way bigger box if the marketing idea of the Ys I&II Seven Set is used by the NA publisher. Heck its also possible with the other publisher. Ohh my, now my optimism regarding this is though the roof.

I swear that the design of the Lunar SE "big box" was of higher quality than the OST jewel case. At least we got silk screened CDs. I was half expecting to just see a sticker label slapped onto a CD-R! ;P
Here's what I'm curious about: Which announcement is going to occur first? Sega of America announces Phantasy Star Portable 2 or any announcement is made about localized Falcom releases. Anyone wanna place any bets?

Should've mentioned my bet is on PSP2. There's been a long-standing rumor that there's going to be some big announcement to go along with the US PC/PS2 PSU servers shutting down on March 31

I can see it now:
"Being brought to the US by Bandai-Namco."
I heard some dudes on my Ys forum say that during a Japanese FALCOM conference it was saif that X-Seed and Konami were interested in localizing it so chances are actually good."
Konami's interested in another Ys game? Would they actually advertise it this time around? I wouldn't be disappointed in hearing Mastiff picking it up. Buut, they only seem to be interested in beer coasters nowadays. Still hanging onto an extremely thin strand of hope that SnK series will ever be localized.

XSeed licensing Falcom games would be nice....But XSeed has had a bit of a problem actually producing and releasing the licenses they got. IIRC At least two of the games within the last two years that XSeed initially announced ultimately were released by another company. Admittingly, what they released are very nice efforts, but shifting ownership of titles like that is usually not suppose to happen...

Hm, I still wonder if there'll be an actual announcement here in March. At least XSEED will do a great job with localization if they have indeed acquired some licenses. My faith in their localization abilities was completely solidified after playing Half-Minute Hero.

Im not suprised konami is interested, ive read on few interviews with them that they are interested in other Ys games. If I recall on a rpg gamer interview with konami's director of Ys VI, that he met with Falcom to talk about having a PSP version of The Oath in Felghana. This happend in 2005.
XSEED being listed as a Trading partner/customer on Falcoms IR site leads me to assume that they obtained a license fromFalcom.
If XSEED does have a license, I am certain they will guard it. This license is valuable to them.
I am sure Falcom is keeping an eye to make sure there are no discrepancies with the license itself.

Not to mention this: xseedgames.blogspot.com/Scroll down to their Lunar translation stories. It's pretty impressive how detailed they got with the game. -Tom I need to make room in my Falcom shrine for some XSEED swag now. D:

Anyone happen to know why Square Enix is listed as a "major customer"?

Wow, that is interesting. If its true, it would be a bigger news than Ys Seven. It kinda coincides with the topic at RPG gamer months ago regarding the consideration of a U.S. release of Sora no Kiseki. If that statement you linked to is true (I don't think anyone will make a joke about Sora no Kiseki getting a North American release), I wonder who is the U.S. publisher. I surely hope its not Bandai, which I significantly doubt.

Never say 'never' when it comes to contents in rumors - and even if it is not a joke, there is also the question of 'what you want to hear' versus 'what they actually said' versus 'what they actually meant.' And it is worth noting that XSeed once upon time look at the idea of licensing of SnK. I doubt the situation has changed enough to make them change their minds, which leaves the interesting question of who can... C.T.
