Honestly, I just don't want Adol touching Dogi's lips during the prison escape-scene. If you want to change "ouch" into something else (within reason) then whatever. I do hope XSEED is taking great care with SnK's script, though. Okay so I lied about my last comment being my last comment because you bring up two more points that slipped my mind while ranting: I see these minor divergences in the translation as a slippery slope where another lip touching incident can occur. Where an attempt to spice up the text causes the scene to take an extremely different interpretation. Also the main reason I'm so critical of the Ys translations so far has been SnK. I could care less about the Ys games since I have the PC versions of I&II & Felghana, and the Japanese version of SEVEN. I've just bought them to support XSEED. But SnK is the #1 RPG I've wanted to play in the past 5 years. I've purposely refrained from playing them until I can fully understand all the text.. which means either I'd have to be fluent in Japanese or wait until the games get translated. So now that the latter is happening, I just want the translation to be as faithful to the original as possible

There is a sword in the lava zone before you get the wind bracelet. Do you have that one? When you first hit the area with ankle-height lava, head north, and it's in a treasure box after a couple of extra deep lava pools you need to jump over

Even if it's just Ys Seven-2 I would play it and love it, though. This. To me the world building in Ys is kinda weak. The strength of it is that there is continuity and we can even pinpoint all the games on a map. But the locales themselves are not that impressive. Regardless of where Adol has been, we always end up with fire areas, ice areas, forests with giant trees, towers, etc. Heck, suddenly Napishtim is seeming like the most original of the games as far as locale is concerned. The most awe inspiring locale was used in the second game, a giant island floating in the sky. Thankfully I don't play Ys for the world. I play it for the music, the action, and the characters... in that order

Yeah, yeah. I knew there would be dissenters. But you try editing THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF LINES OF CHARACTERS SAYING VARIATIONS ON THE WORD "OUCH" without feeling inclined to add in some silliness to maintain your sanity. -Tom It stands out to me that you don't try to defend your work as adding flavor to otherwise bland text, which is a valid stance, but instead you make the excuse that you are doing it to protect your sanity. And this is mild. It is something I'd otherwise ignore. 'cept that given XSEED's track record with the translation of the Ys games so far it is a red flag. It is a hint that liberties are being made and now I don't trust the quality of the translation. It's called flavor text for a reason. It doesn't stand on its own to present the game, but it does change the taste of the work as a whole. If the original Japanese does not contain memes and references, then the translation should not. I can't wait to see the first monster that says something along the lines of "HERP DERP" Anyways, I'm done now because Wyrd will always try to get the last word anyhow

Well going with the Adol's Angels idea, it could be a series of short stories where the girls are working together to take on minor adventures at Adol's behest but they're all secretly just trying trying to actually meet up with Adol again. At the end of ever story it seems like they're about to see him when something silly happens to prevent it from happening

Elena comes back as an action girl who has taken up her brother's sword after his death and trained under Berhardt.

Translation: We inserted pointless silliness and dated references that were not in the original game Oh well, at least you'll have fans with the lolinterwebs crowd. I guess even I enjoyed Working Designs "translations" when I was young and before I knew better

Thor/Toal is hotly debated. I stand by Thor because it's a real name and I have seen other instances where Thor has been accidentally translated as Toal (Scrapped Princess and some Tales of stuff)

Sega has started giving out online passes for the PSP2I demo. I thought they were going to be limited but either nobody is grabbing them or they are "limited" as over 24 hours later I lazily log into the JP PSN and there was still one available for me

How is Zenonia? I took note of it when it came out for DSiWare, held off until it was released as a PSP mini and now still don't know if it's worth getting or not.
Block puzzles in Nier only remain block puzzles until you remember that you can jump. Oops

And now I have the mental image of the video for Holy Diver only with Adol walking around with a sword instead of Dio

Elena wearing Chester's outfit is so Utenalicious. <3 When you put it that way... maybe that's why I like that piece of art so much. It's been my PC desktop for the last few months ;P

I was to busy watching large, building destroying explosions launch giant alien ants and spiders into the air to bother remembering if I was looking at the back of my character all the time or from his viewpoint
Still, any game where "destory those buildings so we can see the enemy!" is a valid tactic to yell at your friend is a pretty awesome game

forgot about watching this until now. I like how you switch to Chronicles mode right before the solo and end with ITEM GET. There was a bit too much mindless running around, but Moondoria is not that big of a place (only 1 screen) so I guess you were just trying to work with that and making the video long enough to give a sense of the soundtrack differences.
If not Moondoria than maybe Noltia? Noltia has more room to run and you could've shown off where the healing cape was hidden as a nice little secret bonus while still ending on ITEM GET.

3DS info keeps trickling in, and mainly I'm finding myself less and less inclined to buy one at launch. First, it's official official that DSiWare purchases can be transferred to the 3DS, but unless the 3DS doesn't region-lock DS games, I'm stuck with my DSi anyhow. (though I'm thinking they won't be region-locked. The DSi didn't region lock older DS games and I think that's because it couldn't. Like there's no hardware way to tell the region of a game back then) Second, boy the current list of US launch titles is not looking impressive to me: kotaku.com/5737885/the-23-3ds-games-you-can-play-by-june
